What is 4-H?
Minnesota 4-H is the largest youth development program in the state, run by the University of Minnesota Extension. It helps young people learn new skills through hands-on projects, community clubs, and adult mentorship.

We want to ride in 4-H, but we don’t own a horse… |
For individuals and families who don’t have access to horses, there are many great opportunities for horse learning:
-Families can find a horse to lease and use in the 4-H Horse Project for riding skills (Misty’s Mission Stables ONLY leases horses out to our current, committed riding lesson students)
-Another option, especially for younger children and beginner youth riders, is to enroll in the Horseless Horse & Cloverbud horse option. Horseless horse allows youth to find an older youth rider to mentor them and share in the riding experience. This is often the best place to start if your family have little to no horse experience.
-Other project areas with horses include Hippology, Horse Judging and Quiz Bowl. You may also create a research project and submit your horse centered project to the Anoka County Fair!

The 4-H Hearts & Horsemanship Club is dedicated to expanding the reach of equine education for youth of all experience levels. Through 4H Horse, Horseless Horse, and Cloverbud projects, we provide a welcoming and supportive environment where members can learn, grow, and develop a lifelong appreciation for horses and horsemanship. Our club strives to create a strong sense of community among youth who share an interest in equine activities—whether they own a horse or simply have a passion for learning. We emphasize teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and sportsmanship in all that we do. Meetings are held March through November at Misty’s Mission Stables, on the last Thursday of each month @ 6PM, where members participate in hands-on horse learning opportunities. These include grooming, horse care, groundwork, showmanship, and show preparation, allowing youth to build practical skills and confidence through real-world experience. Members also have access to a variety of equine education opportunities, including additional meetings, workshops, educational clinics, and skill-building activities. These experiences are designed to deepen knowledge and support growth both in and out of the arena. At Hearts & Horsemanship, we believe every young person deserves the chance to connect, learn, and thrive through the world of horses.
